Protection network for social emergencies
The objective of this initiative is to establish a protection network for social emergencies, providing the Misericordie with the useful tools to tackle the social needs of their community, so that no one has to face difficulties alone. Home is a welcoming, familiar place, and it’s “our home” where “I” becomes “We”.
As “Our Home”, every Misericordia must adhere to three guidelines:
- Human relationships take priority over the service provided
- The central role of the person must always be respected, regardless of the assistance given
- Tailored treatment: every person is unique and each response must be tailored to their needs
The main purpose is to welcome, listen to, accompany or take responsibility for anyone experiencing social, economic, or existential distress. It is crucial to build collective and not individual relationships, at the local level with local authorities, such as municipalities, charitable organisations, parishes, and Local Health Authorities, as well as private associations that can provide a professional response to different social and psychological needs.
