Universal Civil Service
The Civil Service at the Misericordia constitutes a life-changing opportunity. Contact the Misericordia in your city for more information.
Civil Service was established by Law 772 of 15 December 1972 as an alternative to mandatory military service, for all those who declared themselves “conscientious objectors”.
Today, the Universal Civil Service offers young people between 18 and 29 years of age the opportunity to get to know the world of Misericordie and experiment the daily activities carried out to help citizens and vulnerable people.
There are manifold activities brought about during the Civil Service, which may vary according to the Misericordia of affiliation, and focus primarily on the following areas:
- Social services
- Routine healthcare transport
- First aid emergency number “112”
- Assistance to the elderly and the vulnerable
Young people working for the Civil Service receive a monthly allowance of € 507,30, as well as specialised training in the key sectors. They may also apply for university credits for this activity.
